If you’re in the mood to explore centuries of beauty, then the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston displays breathtaking works of art from around the world. It’s no secret that this museum is one of the best in the nation, but what makes it so special? Let’s take a deeper look at this Houston-area institution.

Expansive Collection

The sheer size of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts will blow you away when you step up to the doors. In fact, this museum is considered one of the largest in the United States. The permanent displays alone showcase art from six continents, spanning 6,000 years of history in total. That adds up to almost 65,000 pieces in total! In addition to the many paintings and sculptures inside, the museum also has unique offerings like the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. This formal woodland garden covers five miles of lush greenery, along with an indoor display of furniture and textiles.
